Mennonite Central Committee Canada (MCC) has joined with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB) in a postcard campaign called Good Soil. This campaign urges the federal government to increase aid for agriculture—particularly aid that will assist small-scale farmers in the developing world. According to CFGB, Canada has a history of being a strong supporter of agricultural development. However, Canada’s aid budget for agricultural development has been steadily declining over the past few years. The Good Soil campaign stresses that supporting small-scale farmers is critical to reducing hunger and poverty, empowering women, and creating a fairer world.
