How is COVID-19 affecting Anabaptists worldwide? How does our faith offer hope in this uncertain time?

Mennonite World Conference (MWC) is updating its YouTube channel regularly with videos featuring church leaders from around the globe, explaining how the pandemic is impacting believers where they live.

MWC is offering these for congregations to share on their social media or for inclusion in their church’s online worship package.

You can watch one of the videos, which features Max Wiedmer from France, below.

“Since the beginning of the epidemic, a word has come to my mind, and that’s humility,” Wiedmer says. “I believe that this is the first lesson we must learn in the face of that disease… Be humble before God.”

The other videos collected so far feature Anabaptists from places like El Salvador, the Netherlands, Portugal, India, and Hong Kong.

“I think the most important challenge is to learn to be the church outside of our buildings and being a presence, continue giving comfort… in the midst of these situations,” Cindy Alpizar says in the video from Costa Rica.

“There are many circumstances where the Lord is giving us the opportunity to rethink our mission and that we need to be obedient in this situation, as the Lord gives us opportunity,” Carlos Martínez García says in the video from Mexico.

“These hard days,” he adds, “are giving us the opportunity to trust in our Lord, that he is our strength, he is our fortress.”

YouTube offers closed captions and automatic translation functions for viewers who need them. You can find all of MWC's COVID-19 videos here.
