Winnipeg pastor and songwriter Phil Campbell-Enns is the latest person featured in a new video series from MennoMedia showcasing Anabaptist contributions to the new Voices Together hymnal.

In the four-and-a-half-minute video, which ends with a performance of the song, Campbell-Enns recalls writing “Fill Us with Your Feast,” which is #309 in Voices Together.

Campbell-Enns, a pastor at Home Street Mennonite Church, wrote the song when he was part of a group responsible for writing material for Leader magazine’s 2007 Lent material.

“What I remember most was how challenging and almost frustrating the two-day workshop was where we were looking for a red thread that ran through the lectionary passages,” he recalls. “I guess Lent isn’t meant to be easy, and planning for Lent is not meant to be easy.”

“When we finally decided on our directions, the pieces came together in a way that we were pleased with,” he adds, “and one of those pieces was, ‘Fill Us with Your Feast.’”

Campbell-Enns, who is also a luthier, has two compositions in Voices Together. The other is “Mountain of God” (#11).

The video featuring Campbell-Enns is the fourth instalment in MennoMedia’s Anabaptist Contributor Series.

It follows videos about “Eternal Light, Shine in My Heart” (#554), “Jesus, Rock of Ages” (#622) and “Jesus on the Mountain Peak” (#301).
