Dear Canadian Mennonite Reader:
In the last few months, I heard two stories about how Canadian Mennonite affects people, that made me glad.
The first was from two people, one now a Mennonite pastor and the other a writer, who said they came into the Mennonite Church partly through reading Canadian Mennonite. While searching for a community of faith, they were drawn to Anabaptist teachings and started reading the magazine to test whether the Mennonite Church would be a good spiritual home for them. The articles in our magazine helped to draw both toward our church.
The second was a story from one of our readers who told the story of how her father spent some of this past winter in Florida. His instructions were that all his mail could be held for him until his return—except Canadian Mennonite, which was to be forwarded as soon as it came! He didn’t want to miss out on the magazine.
I was so glad to heard that Canadian Mennonite draws people to the God we serve and the church we love. I’m glad that it is also appreciated so much by so many in the church.
A number of significant editorial projects came to fruition over the past six months, including major features we developed on sports in the church, church organization fundraising, Mennonite peacemaking (the “responsibility to protect” feature) and children and communion. Canadian Mennonite is a way all of us, through our Every Home subscription plan, can share in what God is doing in our midst.
